“A Celebration of the Music of Roy Hargrove” featuring the Weeks & Peterson Quintet with special guest Anthony Ware.
Drummer Dan Weeks and bassist Joseph M. Peterson formed the Weeks & Peterson Quintet in late 2021 to perform original jazz and underplayed classics from the hard-bop repertoire. Currently, the band is concentrating on the music of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Hank Mobley, and Roy Hargrove. In addition to compositions by Mobley and Hargrove, the quintet features music by Cedar Walton, Bobby Timmons, Bobby Watson, and
New Jersey’s own Wayne Shorter—all of whom were members of the Jazz Messengers.
Anthony Ware has collaborated with an impressive roster of musicians, including Delfeayo Marsalis, Jennifer Holiday, and Winard Harper. In addition to his work as a performer, Ware has also made a name for himself as a recording artist, including with Radam Schwartz and Public Enemy. Ware’s work with Jazzmeia Horn on her album, Dear Love, earned a Grammy nomination in 2021. He has also recorded with Spanish singer and songwriter Rosalía, and J Cole’s 2016 platinum album, For Your Eyes Only. As a member of Winard Harper’s Jeli Posse since 2013, Ware has honed his skills as a collaborator and ensemble player. He is also featured on Theo Croker’s “The Messenger” and Blvck to the Future, further showcasing his versatility and musical range.
GUNSMOKE
Classic Radio Road Show

7:00pm
Gunsmoke, Chester’s Dilemma & Frontier Gentleman
Gunsmoke was decidedly adult in the subjects the characters wrestled with, and sometimes the bad guys didn’t get caught! The series ran on radio from 1952 until 1961! Gunsmoke originally starred William Conrad as Matt Dillon, US Marshal and John Dehner as JB Kendall, and aired in 1958.
In “Gunsmoke, Chester’s Dilemma”, Chester discovers he has an admirer, but fears she may have ulterior motives. Gunsmoke was a successful radio series before it became a beloved television show.
In “Frontier Gentleman, Beljoy’s Prisoner”, Kendall is a journalist traveling the West for stories to send back to The London Times. Here he’s arrested on suspicion of robbery and is made to give culture and deportment lessons to the daughter of the small town mayor/sheriff/executioner that holds him.
