NJRep’s three-day festival of script-in-hand readings welcome new playwrights to submit. Plays must be new, previously unproduced, unpublished, and no more than 15 minutes in length (maximum 15 pages). Cast size cannot exceed 4 actors. Prior festivals have received 250-300 submissions and approximately 16-20 are chosen for each event. Although the theme is specified, we are not prescriptive with regard to style and how you interpret the theme is the province of each playwright. We accept drama, comedy, musical, monologues or whatever sparks your creative impulse. There is no compensation for presenting the work. Playwrights retain all copyright of their works. Keep in mind that Theatre Brut® seeks to foster the creative impulse unfettered by social and artistic convention. So let your imagination soar and be adventurous.  If you have ever aspired to “experiment” or stretch the boundaries of theater, this is the time to do so. Playwrights are encouraged attend the festival.
